SO SAD! General Hospital Spoilers: Kin Shriner Reveals He Was Sidelined By A Botched Foot Surgery
General Hospital spoilers and updates reveal Kin Shriner (Scott Baldwin) shared with fans on social media that a previous surgery had made him unable to walk.
In his story, he mentioned receiving support from another well-known soap opera star and he also took the opportunity to ask fans about their own surgery experiences.
Kin Has Been With The ABC Soap Nearly From The Start
Shriner began his journey with General Hospital in 1977, taking on the iconic role of Scott Baldwin, which remains one of his most recognized characters.
He subsequently reprised this role in the supernatural spin-off of the soap, Port Charles. Throughout the years, he has made appearances on various soap operas, including The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful, and As the World Turns.
Recently, the soap opera star revealed a personal health struggle in a video posted on social media. In a heartfelt post on X, Shriner was seen seated outdoors in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
A Year Ago Scott Had A Botched Foot Surgery
In a black and white video, Shriner stated, “Tomorrow marks a year since an arrogant surgeon at SCOE performed a subtalar fusion on me. He messed it up.”
The Cleveland Clinic explains that this surgery fuses the bones in the subtalar joint and is typically done to address foot arthritis. After the procedure, the actor revealed that he was unable to walk; and said, “For six months, I essentially couldn’t walk.”
Shriner mentioned that another soap opera star stepped in to assist him-he added, “Then my good friend John Stamos referred me to his doctor at Cedars Sinai; he fixed it.” As fans of General Hospital might recall, the Full House star also portrayed Blackie Parrish on the soap.
Kin Is Now In Rehab For His Foot
Currently, Shriner mentioned that he is in rehabilitation for his foot. He said, “So I’m down here in old Fort Lauderdale rehabbing this foot, every day; every day so that I can get mobile.”
Shriner revealed that he is putting in a lot of effort to get back in shape. He remarked, “I’m getting attendance records at this Powerhouse Gym; you gotta get it back, if something goes wrong, you fix it, or you try to. Anyway, that’s what I’ve been up to.”
He assured fans that he would keep them informed about his progress, adding, “So stay tuned. I will be mobile soon. Very soon.”
Kin Asked Fans To Share Their Stories
In the post’s caption, Shriner mentioned, “Breaking news from Fla Scotty @GeneralHospital, he’s not just indulging in glazed donuts.
He’s putting in the effort to heal his foot and return to Vespa and all other commitments!!!!!!” The actor reached out to fans, inviting them to share their personal stories related to surgery and rehabilitation.
He encouraged engagement by stating, “Please share your experiences with me, as it’s challenging and many don’t grasp the duration it takes! “Interestingly, Kin’s last appearance as Scotty, nearly a year ago now, had him going for donuts for a shady pharmacist on the way to going into hiding, and they both disappeared.
Fans Shared Their Experiences
Some responses included: “I had subtalar fusion 18 months ago at HSS NY. The recovery is quite challenging!” “Many people are unaware of how difficult this injury is to recover from, particularly because it limits your mobility; wishing you a blessed recovery, stay strong.”“Sending best wishes for a quick recovery, Kin! I’ve been enjoying classic GH episodes from 1982 when Scotty was causing all kinds of trouble!
Those episodes are fantastic. You’re always amazing!” “Make sure to do your physical therapy, be a good patient, follow the doctors’ advice, and then return to GH; everyone misses you.”
