BREAKING NEWS: Tristan Rogers Confides Cancer Diagnosis!

The actor’s rep stated that Rogers and his family “are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support and love.”

Tristan Rogers, known for portraying Robert Scorpio on “General Hospital,” has been diagnosed with cancer.

The 79-year-old Australian actor’s rep confirmed the news to TODAY.com.

“While he remains hopeful and is working closely with his medical team on a treatment plan, this is a challenging time for Tristan and his family,” his rep shared in a statement shared with Deadline and other outlets.

“As they face both the emotional and physical burdens that come with this diagnosis, the family kindly asks for privacy and understanding.”

“They are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support and love from their friends and family. Tristan sends his love to his fans and wants them to know how much he appreciates their loyalty and encouragement over the years,” the statement continued. “This support means more to him now than ever.”

They did not specify the type of cancer that Rogers’ has.

Rogers has portrayed Robert Scorpio on “General Hospital” since 1980. With over 1,400 episodes under belt, according to IMDB, his last appearance had been in November 2024. However, according to IMDB and Soap Opera Digest, he made a surprise appearance on the July 17, 2025, episode, the same day he announced his cancer diagnosis.

Aside from his famous soap opera role, Rogers’ additional credits include “The Bay,” “The Young and the Restless,” “The Agency,” “The Love Boat,” and “Walker, Texas, Ranger,” as well as provided the voice for characters in a number of shows including “The Rescuers Down Under.”

He won an Emmy in 2020 in the outstanding performance by a supporting actor in a digital drama series for his role as “Doc” in “Studio City.”

In his rep’s statement, it noted that future updates about Rogers’ health “will be shared if deemed appropriate by Tristan and his family.”
