It’s Over!! Whitney Leavitt Responds to Broadway Vocal Doubts With a Viral TikTok That Has Everyone Buzzing

Whitney Leavitt is about to have her “And all that jazz” moment … or at least, that’s the hope. The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star and Dancing With the Stars alum is gearing up for her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart in Chicago, and the internet has collectively decided that one question must be asked, loudly and repeatedly: But… can she sing?

Naturally, Whitney handled it in the most Whitney way possible — with humor, a wink, and a little bit of TikTok chaos.

On Tuesday, December 9, she posted a hilarious video poking fun at the persistent chatter about her vocal abilities. Instead of belting out a show tune and settling the debate, she lip-synced to a viral 2018 Today Show moment: Omarosa Manigault Newman telling Savannah Guthrie, “Savannah, slow down.” And honestly? Comic perfection.

In the video, Whitney sets the scene with text over the audio. When Savannah (in the clip) asks, “He is a liar as you say?” Whitney pairs it with the question she’s getting nonstop online: “Are you excited to be on Broadway?” — to which she enthusiastically “responds” via Omarosa’s voice, just as the original sound did.

Then comes the kicker. When Savannah follows up with, “Why did you work for him?” Whitney swaps in: “Then why don’t you sing for us?” Cue the iconic line: “Savannah, slow down.”

It’s cheeky, self-aware, and exactly the level of trolling you’d expect from someone who knows the entire internet has thoughts.

Whitney even captioned the post: “there’s singing on broadway? 🤭😝” — a decidedly tongue-in-cheek nod to the endless chorus of, “But can she sing?” after her casting was announced.

She’ll be stepping into Roxie Hart’s heels for a six-show run in New York City, and while the mom of three has danced, acted, and vlogged her way into the spotlight, singing has remained the big mystery.

And her husband Conner didn’t exactly calm the skeptics, joking in the comments, “I can confirm that when Whitney sings…noise comes out.”

Fans Have Thoughts (And They’re Rooting for Her)

If Broadway TikTok had a suggestion box, it would currently be overflowing with unsolicited vocal inquiries. But Whitney’s fans? They’re in full hype-girl mode.

“Something tells me you’re about to pop out with crazy vocals that no one knows about,” one wrote.

Another gushed, “Bestie you’re GLOWING. So proud of a stranger 🤭 can’t wait to see your journey on Broadway!!✨✨”

Some supporters are so committed they’re basically packing their suitcases already. “Not me making a plan to fly to NYC & see the show and fly back home in the same day,” one fan confessed. Another simply declared, “You’re THE Whitney Leavitt. I’m sure it will be amazing.”

Others chimed in with comments like, “I’m convinced you can do anything,” “Bought my tickets, seeing you in Feb!!” “She’s a queen of many talents!” and, “I have a feeling Whitney’s a triple threat.”

If encouragement were Razzle Dazzle, Whitney would already have a Tony.

So … Can Whitney Actually Sing?

Well, here’s the plot twist: Even Whitney isn’t pretending to be a Broadway belter — at least not yet.

Back in October, during an interview with E! News on the set of Dancing With the Stars, she admitted she’d “definitely need to take some singing lessons” before taking on anything on Broadway.

And in a previous chat with Kate Mackz, she said she’s “always loved the entertainment industry,” but also added, “I’m not a great singer, though, so I’m in the ensemble for those!”

So far, she hasn’t posted any videos (that we could find) showcasing her vocals, which means the big reveal is still under wraps. But given her work ethic, charisma, and the fact that Chicago is a show that thrives on attitude, performance, and presence just as much as powerhouse vocals, it feels fair to say she’s going to be just fine.

Whether Whitney Leavitt turns out to be a secret songbird or a well-trained beginner, one thing is clear: People are buying tickets. They’re showing up. And they’re talking.

Which means the name on everyone’s lips really is going to be… Whitney.
