Shock moment Mormon Wives star Chase is handcuffed for DUI and gives disturbing excuse to cops in police bodycam

THE SECRET Lives of Mormon Wives star Chase McWhorter can be seen getting handcuffed by police in newly-uncovered bodycam video of his July arrest for DUI and cocaine possession.

In the footage exclusively obtained by The U.S. Sun, following our report last week about his July arrest, Chase, 30, is seen sitting in his car as an officer asks him for his license, insurance and registration.

The Mormon Wives star was able to provide his license and registration, though is unable to show the officers his insurance.

The officer said he pulled fellow star Miranda McWhorter‘s ex over due to how he was driving on the roadway.

The local Utah officer asked Chase to step out of the car, and began to ask him some questions.

The officer asked Chase where he was coming from, to which he responded: “A pool day at my friend’s house, and then went out to my frat house in Draper.”

The Hulu star then made some small talk with the officers as he talked about how it was hailing earlier in the day.

Chase, who also had a short fling with Mormon Wives star Taylor Frankie Paul, who is now the star of ABC hit show The Bachelorette, then performed a walking sobriety test and stood on one leg.

The officer then said: “Let me see your hand, let me see your other hand, you are under arrest,” as they dramatically placed cuffs on him.

“I am placing you under arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” the officer said.

POLICE SEARCH

Once Chase was placed into the back of the police car, his own vehicle, a white Tesla, was searched.

One officer pulled out what looks like a prescription bottle, though it’s unclear if anything was discovered inside.

In another shot, an officer was holding a bag with what appeared to be a white powder substance.

The police brought the substance to the back of one of the patrol cars and seemed to be testing it, though the body camera microphones are turned off at this point in the footage.

Once they finished going through Chase’s car, the reality star was brought to the police station.

At the station, the officers took blood and urine samples.

The nurse showed the officer the strip that revealed the substances Chase’s urine sample allegedly came back positive for.

“This one is positive for alcohol, cocaine and amphetamines,” she said as she explains the strip.

The arresting officer then told Chase that he had the right to remain silent, and reads him his Miranda Rights

Despite being offered the right to remain silent, Chase said he was willing to speak to police.

The officer asked: “Do you have someone that could come pick you up from here? Someone that hasn’t been drinking, because I don’t want them getting in trouble, does too okay? And then, what were you doing during the last three hours?”

Chase admitted to have some Michelob beers and two or three shots of tequila.

He said he started drinking around “9:30, maybe 10,” and had his last drink “around 11:30ish.”

Chase told the officers he was on his way to a friend’s house and that he had just started driving from just down the road at Bout Time Bar.

At the very end of his time in police custody, the arresting officer told Chase he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest on an unrelated traffic infraction which he had not appeared in court for.

BLAMING MIRANDA?

He then gave the excuse: “My ex-wife [Miranda McWhorter] is dating a guy that I know, so I probably went a little harder than I should have.”

Chase and Miranda ultimately divorced in 2024.

Chase also said that the baggie of drugs the cops allegedly found wasn’t his, and he doesn’t know how it got in his car- as it was only his first time doing cocaine that night.

Additionally, Chase can be heard confirming to someone in a phone call that former Bachelor contestant Litia Garr was coming to pick him up at the station.

As The U.S. Sun previously revealed, Chase was arrested over the summer.

Chase apologized to fans after The U.S. Sun’s exclusive report.

The U.S. Sun exclusively obtained revealing court documentation from a July 4 incident involving the Mormon Wives star, in which officers noted Chase “drifted outside of the travel lane several times” and “smelled of alcohol.”

Law enforcement reported that a woman driving a vehicle near Chase flagged down officers at a traffic light, asserting she had witnessed a white Tesla being driven dangerously.

According to the official court records, Utah police accuse Chase, 30, of “knowingly and intentionally possess[ing] or us[ing] a controlled substance” and “driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs” while his license was suspended or invalid.

Police reported that they “observed a vehicle driven by a male, later identified as [Chase], who was unable to maintain his speed and drifted outside of the travel lane several times, almost hitting a curb.”

When officers pulled over the reality star’s car, they “detected the odor of alcohol and observed he had bloodshot, glassy eyes and slurred speech.”

Additionally, the authorities alleged that during a search of the vehicle, they found a “powder substance that field tested positive for cocaine and fentanyl.”

The local police claimed that after being read his Miranda rights, the Hulu star “admitted to drinking at a bar and using cocaine before driving.”

At the police precinct, Chase told officers he had been at Bout Time Bar and was heading to a friend’s house when he was pulled over.

He allegedly confessed that “he had been drinking, and stated that he had ‘two or three’ Michelob’s and two or three shots of tekla.”

Chase initially told law enforcement that he had not consumed any substances other than alcohol that night. The officers then claimed,

“After I asked him about the bag we found in his car, he acted surprised and stated that he did not know where it came from, but admitted that he had ‘tried cocaine for the first time tonight.’”

The forensic nurse who conducted a urine test on Chase reported he tested positive for “amphetamines, cocaine and alcohol.”

Police informed Chase he was allowed to have a responsible person come to the station to collect him.

Chase contacted his friend, “identified as Litia Garr.”

Litia, who was a runner-up on Season 29 of The Bachelor and is slated to appear on Season 4 of Mormon Wives, “signed the Release and Acceptance of Arrested Person form,” and Chase was released into her care.

Chase was charged with possession of a controlled substance, driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, and driving on a suspended or revoked operator’s license.

The influencer received a court summons for his first appearance on September 24 at 8:30am.

ARREST WARRANT

The court documented that Chase failed to appear for his initial hearing, which resulted in an arrest warrant being issued for him on the same day, with his bail set at $2,500.

On November 5, Chase’s attorney formally entered a not guilty plea on his client’s behalf.

By November 18, Chase’s arrest warrant was recalled. According to the state’s evidence sheet, Chase’s vehicle appeared to have been impounded following the incident.

Chase’s attorney stated exclusively to The U.S. Sun: “My client is presumed to be innocent and I intend to represent him to the best of my ability.”
